The Cloud House

The Cloud House, designed by Takero Shimazaki Architects, is a carefully composed urban retreat, transforming a constrained London site into a tangibly calming home. Inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s painting ‘Interior of an Italian Church’, the project is shaped by arched windows, natural light and a restrained palette of weathered chestnut, concrete, and clay plaster in two light and airy shades that complement the spaces within. Rather than prescribing fixed functions, the client’s brief focused on defining the quality and feel of the spatial experience. The resulting house is an inward looking space where they can leave the city behind.
