Set along Kuwait’s coastline, Plinth House is a private villa designed by Cambra Buró, bringing together contemporary architecture, traditional Arabic influences and environmental performance. Anchored by a sculpted travertine base, the residence features monumental arches, shaded terraces and carefully framed spaces. Responding to Kuwait’s extreme climate, passive design strategies, natural materials and renewable energy systems are integral to the architecture, demonstrating how sustainability and beauty can coexist.
Specified as part of a carefully considered palette of natural, high-performance materials, Clayworks clay plaster is used throughout the villa, balancing its scale with a sense of softness and intimacy. Our naturally-pigmented clay finishes support the project’s sustainability and wellbeing ambitions through natural humidity regulation, breathability and low embodied carbon, contributing to comfortable, restorative interiors.
“Ultimately, our material choices were driven by the idea that sustainability, beauty and wellbeing should not be separate ambitions. They should work together naturally.” Alicia Cambra, Design Director
