The architects Denizen Works sought to make 100 Acre Wood appear hewn from rock, drawing inspiration from Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida. The massing evokes the castle ruins prevalent across Scotland, while the house, nestled into a hollow in the landscape, appears to emerge naturally from the ground. This design gives the home a protective quality, responding to the exposed site and harsh weather conditions.
Inside, the space is softened with Demi-Rustic Clay plaster in a warm, earth-like tone, infused with golden mica specks that create a subtle shimmer reminiscent of natural rock formations.
