The design for OMA by BOX 9 Design draws on the understated elegance of the Greek islands, combining soft olive and eucalyptus tones with smoked oak and deep, dark bronze metalwork to create a calm, grounded palette.
Materiality played a central role in the design process of this Michelin-starred restaurant. After testing a range of finishes that could evoke the texture and tone of the island landscape, our clay plaster was selected for its natural aesthetic and versatility. The use of a smooth finish was applied throughout to create depth, while maintaining a cohesive, mineral quality.
“There is such serenity and such calm there,” says David Carter, the restaurateur behind OMA, “so the interior feels washed and weathered too, like you’re driving up the coastline at sunset in Sifnos.”
