The Story of Emily is a new museum in south-east Cornwall, celebrating the life of local humanitarian Emily Hobhouse. Designed by Stonewood Design, the RIBA award-winning museum offers an immersive visitor experience shaped by careful planning of the site that preserves historic agricultural buildings, mature trees and traditional stone walls.
Local stone has also been used for the new staff building and café, complemented by contemporary details such as frameless glazing and integrated lighting. Our locally-sourced smooth clay plaster is used in conjunction with crafted timber joinery throughout the staff buildings, bringing warmth and tactility to the interiors.
