Clay House, Kentish Town

Material performance was central to this residential renovation and extension project by Studio 163, which transformed a dark, damp one-bedroom flat into a light-filled two-bedroom home that reconnects with its garden. A restrained palette of timber, soft sage greens and off-white tones creates a calm, contemporary interior that reflects the client’s love of natural materials and landscape design.

Sustainability played a pivotal role in the project’s design approach, with Studio 163 prioritising materials that enhance the building’s breathability while supporting its long-term performance. Clayworks Exterior finish in Demi-Rustic was specified externally for its naturally porous, moisture-regulating properties, while the carefully selected colours complement the character of the original London stock brick.
