The Penny Bun, an old village inn nestled in the rolling landscape of Yorkshire, has been sensitively refurbished into a modern, intentional escape rooted in heritage. The refurbishment, led by designers BOX 9 in collaboration with the Denton Reserve, was guided by a clear philosophy – that every design choice should leave a positive environmental impact.
A natural material palette of earthy browns, muted greens and wheat tones grounds the interiors in the natural beauty of the surrounding Yorkshire landscape. Our clay plaster was chosen as a key material throughout, ensuring a seamless flow from the communal inn to the crafted guest bedrooms, whilst supporting the project’s commitment to wellbeing and sustainability.
