Clayworks was founded by Adam Weismann and Katy Bryce, driven by a love of nature and a belief in sustainable building practices. Their journey began in Cornwall, running a company specialising in cob, wood, stone, clay, and lime, while travelling the world to learn traditional clay building techniques.
Their vision was to use natural materials, particularly earth, to create architectural finishes that are beautiful, environmentally responsible, and enhance the wellbeing of those who use the spaces. Research for their books, Building with Cob (2006) and Clay and Lime Finishes (2008), deepened their expertise and sparked a fascination with clay’s performance and aesthetic potential.
Combining centuries-old knowledge with modern science, Adam and Katy developed ready-to-use clay plaster finishes. This culture of learning, discovery, and innovation remains at the heart of Clayworks today.
